ECR - A tour among Regional products of Excellence

CERTO project, co-funded by the European Commission, coordinated by I Cammini d'Europa E.E.I.G. and assisted by the European Institute for Cultural Routes in Luxembourg, was designed to create an offer of tourism products for three pilgrimage routes certified by the Council of Europe, the Via Francigena, the Saint James and the St. Olav Ways. The catalogue is one of the concrete and welcome results of this joint initiative.

QuattroPole

QuattroPole is a cross-border city network of Luxemburg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier. The initiative aims at strengthening the visibility of the QuattroPole space on the European map, to meet the challenges of the future, together, in a Europe that is growing together. QuattroPole sets up specific cross-border services dedicated to citizens and enterprises, in collaboration with external partners. Environment and energy, culture, languages and a common touristic concept are some of the topics developed by QuattroPole.

French Label “Vignobles et Découvertes” for Iter Vitis

Launched in 2009, the label Vignobles & Découvertes aims at promoting the tourism on the thematic wine and wine-yard. The label is a collective brand “Vignobles & Découvertes” : its management, award procedure and renewal and its protection are governed by specific regulations (Regulations and application form are shown in the Annexes to this GI form). The label is attributed for 3 years to a touristic and wine-oriented destination by the Ministers of tourism and Agriculture, upon recommendation of the Superior Council of Wine Tourism.

Via Amerina e delle Forre Bio-District

As part of the general commitment of the international community on organic farming, the main scope of Bio-Districts is to promote the culture of the Organic (bio) and territorial approach so as to contribute to the achievement of sustainable management of resources, environmental compatibility, the enhancement of local pecularities and, therefore, the quality of life. In particular, a Bio-District enables a biological model to be promoted in the context of rural ethical, fair trade development .

Green innovation in tourism services

This paper on Green Innovation in Tourism Services seeks to analyze the role of green innovation in the transition of tourism enterprises (hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, tour operators) to a green economy; how green innovation in tourism is supported in different countries (e.g. specific structures, mechanisms and good practices); and what can be done to accelerate the diffusion of green innovation in the sector. The paper provides a range of potential areas of policy focus to improve diffusion, strengthen markets and change consumer attitudes to green innovation in the tourism sector.

'Eco-Romania' Ecotourism Certification System

The 'Eco-Romania' ecotourism certification system is a mechanism that recognizes the compliance of ecotourism products developed by agencies and tour-operators, local communities and accommodation facilities to the requirements of nature conservation principles, of sustainable development of local communities and of promotion of natural and cultural assets. The certification system operates with a set of criteria established by the Association of Ecotourism in Romania, that must be fulfilled by the products of the tour operator undergoing the certification procedure.

GHA Host Quality Branding

A quality brand for hosts as developed by the German Hiking Association ensures high quality standards for accommodation facilities and restaurants along a cultural route. Together with hosts and restaurants it is able to identify and integrate particularly target group oriented offers and ensure to satisfy the requirements of the visitors.

Black Forest Card Apportionment System

The Black Forest Tourism GmbH invented the idea in cooperation with local municipalities to create a network consisting of various public and private institutions such as local guesthouses/hotels and private or public providers of social, cultural and leisure offers in the natural region of the Black Forest. The network’s economic structure is based on an apportionment system: a part of the accommodation rate per overnight stay goes to cultural and leisure institutions or to public transport providers.
