Cultural Heritage Act

The Cultural Heritage Act 2002 has defined a new cultural heritage framework for Malta. The main objective of this framework is to ensure that Malta’s cultural heritage is adequately protected, conserved and promoted. The Act established the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and the following other entities: • Committee of Guarantee • Heritage Malta • Malta Center for Restoration • National Forum

ECO Certification Scheme

The ECO certification scheme is the national standard for ensuring the environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural sustainability of hotels on the Maltese Islands and has been recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council as fully reflecting the GSTC criteria.


B3 POINTS OF INTEREST > Cultural heritage | The main scope of this project is the building-up and marketing of a cross-border cultural heritage tourism product through the conservation, accessibility and valorisation of the archaeological heritage so as to reinforce competitiveness, improve the touristic image of Malta and Sicily, and diversify the overall tourism offer in view of a seasonal adjustment of visitor flows.

Mqabba Heritage Trail

Main objective of the practice is to instil awareness amongst foreign and local visitors of our potentials with regards tourist itineraries of a historical, cultural and environmental nature by identifying a circuit to visit the rural areas & setllements of Malta island and producing an associated guidebook.
